About Our Pure Linen
Our linen fabric is made from the flax plant and linen's properties are inherent to the flax plant as well as it's unique structure. Linen is considered a naturally antibacterial fabric due to it inhibiting the growth and reproduction of bacteria, this is due to linen's natural chemical defenses of, Lignin & Phenolic acid naturally resisting decomposition and can denature bacterial proteins making it difficult for microorganisms to multiply. Silica naturally inhibits growth of bacteria that cause rot and fermentation making the resulting fabric inherently resistant to various pathogens.
Linen also has a unique and natural structure, making linen considered a naturally hypoallergenic fabric. Linen has Antistatic properties unlike synthetic fabrics, linen does not hold a static charge, which means it repels rather than attacks dust and other environmental particles and won't hold dust and dirt, that serves as food to bacteria.Linen has hollow fibers and a loose weave structure giving our linen superior moisture management and superior breathability, making it extremely difficult for bacteria to grow and survive.
Linen also has microscopic porosity which means linen has thousands of tiny pores that act as conduits for air and moisture that prevents warm, damp conditions that dust mites and mold spores require to thrive.
